We have some exciting information about the conference! There will be a number of sessions presented by Nicola Cantan, along with sessions by Jani Parsons & Bronwyn Schuman. There will be a wealth of valuable information in these sessions, all about running a studio, teaching students, innovative pedagogy, performance, and more. John Beckwith, who died only last year, contributed greatly to Canadian music throughout his life. He taught at the University of Toronto for decades, training up great Canadian composers and musicians. He wrote music for various instruments, including piano, and wrote chamber music, orchestral music, and even operas. He was aiming to create a distinct Canadian voice in contemporary music, and the Canadian Encyclopedia of Music describes his music as having a "quilt-like design". He wrote extensively, scholarly works and music, and was passionate about promoting Canadian works.
